May Wrap Up: Overview Of Books I Read

Hello loves, it’s Lori! I read as much and possible this month. There were so many wonderful releases this month as well. While this post is up, IT’S OFFICIALLY PRIDE MONTH YAY!🏳️‍🌈 Sending love and positivity to the ones who are closeted or not, the ones who’s Family, Country or Religion doesn’t accept them. You’re valid, amazing and loved. I appreciate you just the way are💕

Here are the all books I’ve read:

1.Leah On The Offbeat By Becky Albertalli – Audiobook (Review TBD)

My rating: ★★★★

Trigger Warnings: Profanity, Alcohol.

I read this as an Audiobook and wasn’t a big fan of the narrator or main character, but I missed the Simon Universe so my heart is still happy. Plus Leah is Bisexual, Fat and I can resonate with her in a personal way. This is more of a 3.6 ish rating, but I rounded it to 4 stars.

2. Bruja Born By Zoraida Cordova – ARC

My Rating: ★★★★

Trigger Warnings: Car Accident, Zombies.

This book was fast paced from start to finish. Filled with mythical creatures, magic, close sister relationships and bloodshed. Hang out tight for this wild ride! When reading, it seemed like a movie being written out and read like a standalone novel. Even though I wasn’t a big fan of the protagonist, and I loved the side characters more, I enjoyed it.

3. Heartless By Marissa Meyer – Audiobook

My Rating: ★★★★★

Trigger Warnings: Death, Smoking, Blood.

Gosh Marissa Meyer really amazed me at how perfectly she executed this retelling, from the origin story of the Red Queen, the magical world and well written poetic verses. She makes you feel empathetic towards the Red Queen because you know her story and why she’s who she is.

Marissa also wrote the romance at a perfect pace to where it wasn’t insta love, but more realistic. Just W O W. After reading, I didn’t want to leave Wonderland. I will never stop recommending this book.

P.s I have a big crush on Jest🙊

4. Star Wars: Most Wanted By Rae Carson – Audiobook

My Rating: ★★★

Trigger Warnings: Guns.

My expectations before reading were quite low, but I wasn’t completely disappointed. It was a bit slow Qi’ra was such a fun point of view to read and my favorite character in the book. It was also good to see a back story of Han more because the book shows that young Han and older Han are totally different.

Thanks so much for stopping by, loves!

I hoped you enjoyed my overview of my reads this month. Stay tuned on my next post being my June LGBTQ TBR!🏳️‍🌈🌈

Lori’s QOTD: How many books did you read in May? Which was your favorite?

Comment below, I’m curious! My favorite read was Heartless for sure🌹
